The best bar in Kumasi boasts features on a part with some of the best spaces in Europe: a gastropub menu, as well as décor that is wonderfully sleek and modern, with Eames-inspired seating, hardwood floors and large windows. The View hosts some of the city’s best DJs and, to top it off, there’s a wonderful rooftop terrace if you want an al fresco vibe as you sip your drinks.

A gorgeous little jazz bar with a great central location that boasts a hacienda home-style vibe and seating strewn throughout a pleasant garden. A decent wine selection, bar snacks, as well as regular live music make S Bar a local favourite.

3. X5 Pub and Restaurant

A cosy spot that boasts one of the best live bands at weekends, X5 is a highly rated and patronised spot beloved by locals. With a pool on site and a great selection of drinks, it is more relaxed on weekdays and, due to the popularity of the live music, becomes quite the spot on Friday nights.

5. Golden Tulip

An oasis of cool and calm, this branch of the Golden Tulip chain has a lovely, serene lounge bar complete with an accomplished piano player, which only adds to the vintage vibes. Alternately, you can lounge about sipping on drinks at the poolside bar, where a sunset view is available and local bands regularly entertain.
