Spokane, Washington, nestled on the Spokane River and west of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, is named after the Spokane tribe (Spokane meaning ‘Children of the Sun’ or ‘Sun people’ in Salishan). It was a historic trading post and eventually became a popular settlement with the completion of the Northern Pacific Railway. Its historic downtown and parks are beautiful to visit. The Flying Goat

Serving Neopolitan-style charred crust pizza, the Flying Goat is a popular pizza place with a woodstone oven. They make their pizzas with daily fresh made dough and house made sauces. The atmosphere is pub style and friendly, with outdoor seating on their patio. They have fifteen beers on tap, as well as wine, and their beer selection includes an Indian Pale Ale brewed right here in Spokane by No-Li Brewhouse.

Mizuna Restaurant and Wine Bar

Mizuna is one of Spokane’s finest restaurants, serving a seasonal menu using organic, fresh, and local Northwest ingredients. Situated in the heart of downtown Spokane in a turn-of-the-century building with marble tables and warm lighting, Mizuna is a swanky place for a night out. Their menu includes dishes like ‘All Natural Painted Hills Flat Iron Steak’ with gorgonzola fingerling potatoes, ‘Duck Leg Confit’, and ‘Pan Seared Sea Scallops.’ They also have a vegetarian menu, like the ‘Tuscan Risotto Cakes’ that are gluten free, and ‘Cauliflower and Eggplant Samosas.’

A 40-year-old restaurant overlooking the Spokane River, this is a classic American grill that serves juicy steaks and flavorful seafood. It’s located in the Old Flour Mill on the North Bank of the Spokane River in beautiful, historic downtown Spokane. Their menu features dishes like ‘Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Braised Short Rib’, ‘Asiago- Almond Crusted Scallops’, and ‘Twice-Roasted Fresh Herb-Stuffed Chicken.’ They also list daily specials depending on the season.

A 1912 farmhouse in Spokane, Washington, owners Celeste and Gina converted the building into a bakery and restaurant that is now Chaps. Their dinner menu includes tasty plates like Flat Iron Steak complete with mashed potatoes and vegetables, Chicken Curry, Beef Stroganoff, and Lamb Chops. If you’re craving American comfort food, look no farther than Chaps to fill your tummy.

Steelhead Bar & Grille

A great place for whiskey and red meat, Steelhead Bar & Grille serves heart-stopping and delicious dishes like Whiskey Pepper Steak, Chicken Parmesan Alfredo, and the Bison Burger. Their steelhead trout dishes are also signature, and they serve traditionally serve a filet with seasonal vegetables. Finish your meal with a glass of whiskey. They sell a variety of Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, Northwest, Canadian, Tennessee, and Rye whiskies.

Manito Tap House

A locally owned, eco-friendly gastropub, Manito Tap House serves food made from the best ingredients. Their dishes include Green Chile Mac & Cheese, Smoked Cauliflower Gnocchi, and The Smoked Gouda Burger. They also have fifty beers on tap, cleaned and maintained according to the Draft Quality Manual of the Brewers Association, and bottles of beer from all over the world, depending on your tastes. Their cellars have over 20 cases of rare beer.

Frank’s Diner

A diner inside a 1906 observation train car that served as a presidential car up until 1931, Frank’s Diner is more of a journey than a meal. Cooking nearly everything from scratch and purchasing local sustainable products whenever it’s possible, Frank’s Diner is a place to order your American breakfast favorites, including ‘Fried Green Tomatoes and Eggs,’ sandwiches, and burgers like the ‘Jalapeno Pepper Jack Bacon Burger.’ Breakfast can be ordered in two sizes, for those who want something lighter than the typical heart-stopping American diner breakfasts and for those who go big or go home.
