Le Refuge

French Onion Soup

Le Refuge is the oldest French restaurant in the Old Town of Alexandria. The menu is traditional French bistro style and has a superb reputation among local Alexandrians. You will find classic dishes such as French onion soup, Avocado stuffed with crabmeat, escargots, frogs legs, and filet mignon served with a Roquefort sauce.

Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan is a family-run restaurant and grill that offers German and Balkan cuisine made using the finest ingredients. On the menu are starters including traditional goulash and cevapcici – or grilled minced meat favored in Serbia and Croatia. You can also get a Greek or Tilapia salad to start, though the main courses available at Cosmopolitan are especially appealing for carnivores: try the stuffed veal schnitzel, wiener and jaeger schnitzel, pikata chicken schnitzel, lamb chops, steaks, or chicken skewers.

House of Dynasty

House of Dynasty is one of the oldest and most highly regarded Chinese restaurants in the north Virginia region. The cuisine is, of course, Chinese, though with an emphasis on Taiwanese dishes such as prawns served with walnuts and orange beef that are rarely seen on traditional Chinese menus. There is also a range of classic dishes made with beef, pork, duck and chicken, scallops, shrimp, and vegetarian options. Chef’s specialties include crystal chicken in garlic sauce, two-flavored fish, and fish fillet served Szechuan style.

On the menu are entrees such as pan seared salmon, house cut tagliatelle, locally sourced beef sirloin, and ‘Fields of Athenry’ lamb. Brabo

Brabo is a collaborative project between Belgian head chef Robert Wiedmaier and chef de cuisine Harper McClure. The cuisine reflects the backgrounds of the two chefs and merges Belgian and Continental classics with a contemporary edginess using the finest seasonal produce. Originally hailing from Antwerp, Wiedmaier named the restaurant after the Brabo statue in his home city. There is a chef’s table at which diners can sample a tasting menu provided by the head chef and sommelier, and an outdoor terrace for al fresco dining. Brabo has built strong links with local farms and artisanal food producers with a menu that includes foie gras, bison carpaccio, Mediterranean sardines, honey roast duck breast, lamb loin, and swordfish, all served with the option of frites with mayonnaise in the traditional Belgian manner.

Dishes of India

Dishes of India is regarded by Virginia locals as being one of the best Indian restaurants in the entire Washington DC area. On-site at Dishes of India is a tandoor oven, with the restaurant offering dishes that represent the entire cuisine of India rather than any one particular region. You will find northern biryanis and karahis, as well as tandoor dishes, and charcoal cooked meals. On the menu you can find a curry to suit your individual taste, from the hottest madras and vindaloo, to cooler kormas, tikka masalas, and plainer dishes such as butter chicken.
