The Top Brunch Spots In Montrose, Texas

Morgan Cronin

It doesn’t matter how busy the week is in Houston, there is always time for brunch. While any one of the city’s charming neighborhoods can serve up a dish of eggs Benedict and wash it down with a freshly squeezed mimosa, here are our favorite spots in Houston’s eclectic Montrose neighborhood.

Brasil

Brasil is a great place to grab a cappuccino with your morning eggs. The Café offers plenty of seating, with two outdoor patios and space inside. Depending on your mood, you can choose to sit out on the front patio, watching cars as they pass by on Westheimer, or forget you’re in the city with shade from the lush trees on the back patio. Breakfast is available throughout the week from 7 a.m. to noon, and Saturday and Sunday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.

La Guadalupana Bakery And Café

La Guadalupana Bakery and Café is a family-owned hidden gem that is easy to overlook. Stationed on the corner of Dunlavy and Indiana next to a Laundromat and convenience store, La Guadalupana serves authentic Mexican cuisine with no frills. Breakfast is served all day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., but during the summer, try to get there before 3 p.m. because they’ve been known to close early. Pair the cinnamon coffee with any dish, you won’t be sorry.

Gratifi Kitchen + Bar

This cozy house in the heart of Montrose is a great haunt for weekly brunch. Gratifi is Houston’s first restaurant with a paws on the patio permit. Bring your best friend for house made bacon dog treats and treat yourself to Bubba’s Breakfast Sandwich (fried chicken with two eggs, jalapeño honey, and pepperjack between a buttermilk biscuit). Open Monday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Royal Oak Bar And Grill

Drawing inspiration from a swanky speak-easy during the prohibition era, Royal Oak is more than just a neighborhood watering hole. Inside the bar’s two-story building, you will find wood floors, plush leather seating, and an old-school bar stocked with all the favorites. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Mimosas come in various flavors, from blackberry to peach and original. Pick your poison, and pair with the breakfast tacos.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
