A former Federal Reserve Bank situated in the heart of the Boston Financial District, the Langham property is a landmark Renaissance revival-style building of the 1920s. The building was converted into a luxury hotel in 1981 yet retains an admirable balance between historic, old-world charm and modern sophistication. Historical exhibits celebrating the building’s former purpose are displayed throughout the elegant property, including photographs, paintings and and two works by legendary artist NC Wyeth, which were commissioned by the Federal Reserve.

Porches Inn is a unique converted row of late 19th-century houses just a stone’s throw from one of America’s largest contemporary art museums, the MASS MoCA. Renowned interior designer Celeste Cooper has coordinated a triumphant fusion of antique and contemporary style in this restored 1903 Beaux Arts building. The rooms at XV Beacon, with high ceilings and neutral tones, are enlivened by technological touches and controlled splashes of color and abstract art. Commissioned paintings by modern artists hang next to original cage elevators and ancient historical artefacts, including a 4th-century Roman mosaic.

7. 76 Main
