The Best Bars In Atlantic Station, Atlanta

Richard Tulis

Atlanta is a transient city. People coming and going, bustling intersections at all hours of the day, and the onslaught of rush-hour traffic can be a little overwhelming at times. Thankfully, the Atlantic Station neighborhood delivers the best of both worlds; this west side neighborhood is a thoroughly developed, yet peripheral haven to the hustle and bustle of downtown. Grab a drink at one of these bars and take a second to relax.

1. Northside Tavern

Bar, Pub Grub

This old rundown gas station-turned-bar has transformed itself into one of Atlanta’s select choices for drinks on the town and featured live music. Northside Tavern, a ‘local fixture for blues and beers,’ echoes with guitar licks seven days a week. The music starts every night at 10 pm, so you know what to expect before you walk in. Soulful and full of grit (just like its music), the good old tavern serves as a quality hangout spot for a cheap beer and some late night fun.

2. Ormsby's

Bar, American, Wine, Beer, Cocktails

This friendly, cheerful neighborhood bar accommodates troughs of smiling faces throughout the day, many of which belong to students from nearby Georgia Tech or young adults from the surrounding Atlantic Station area. The bar offers several exciting games to pass the time, including bocce ball, shuffleboard, darts, and of course pool. Ormsby’s serves good food too. Whether you’d like a hearty entrée of fish tacos, or if you’d rather try the sweet potato fries or some hot boiled peanuts, Ormsby’s has a full menu for you to peer over before you take your next shot at the dartboard.

3. The Pig & the Pearl

Bar, Restaurant, South American, Wine, Beer

Though technically a chef restaurant, this place has a reputation for its cocktails. The Pig and the Pearl combines rich culinary preparation with everyday drink specials and a contemporary, well lit wrap around bar. The area is spacious and aligned next to several French doors, which offer plenty of light. With happy hour every day and $15 mimosa pitchers, the Pig and the Pearl is a wise location to select when bringing some friends out for a few drinks in Atlantic Station.

4. Holeman & Finch Public House

Holeman & Finch Public House

With Atlantic Station being a relatively up and coming sub-neighborhood to midtown, it can be tempting to venture a bit down the road for a little change of pace. For this reason, we highly recommend Holeman and Finch Public House, a contemporary and modern gathering venue known for its sublime tapas and hand crafted, one-of-a-kind cocktails. The Holeman and Finch Burger is one of the menu’s strongest features, and it is not overly large. Rather (as with most other menu selections), the burger is best chased by a ‘superkick:’ a bourbon-based cocktail infused with apple brandy, honey, and rhubarb, among other ingredients.

5. Lobby at Twelve

Bar, American

This hotel bar could not possess a better location; in fact, it truly is the epicenter of Atlantic Station. Located on the ground floor of the Twelve Hotel (hence its name), the trendy bar’s kitchen stole a spot in the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s ‘Top 50 Restaurants in Atlanta’ feature. The wine selection is more than extensive, and the venue serves as a trustworthy pick for a classy evening. Shops surround the hotel on all sides and merely add to the elegant experience this Atlantic Station spot brings to the table.

6. Whiskey Blue

Bar, American, Cocktails, Wine, Beer

Prepare to be whisked up to Whiskey Blue, the 125-foot rooftop bar of the W hotel in midtown. This outdoor, terrace-themed lounge and bar has it all: a dual-sided view of Lenox Mall and Buckhead Square, wood paneled walls lined with modern art, comfortable cabana style seating and interior arrangements, and – of course – signature cocktails. Whiskey Blue features the occasional guest DJ, but the bar is also an excellent getaway spot during the week for a relaxing, top notch rooftop experience.
