Herschel Supply Co. is the quintessential accessory of this generation – the backpack, the most popular item of the brand, can be seen on students, stylish travellers and other trendy fashion gurus from the dressy business man to the casual coding youngster. By combining functionality with style, Herschel takes classic, old-school-inspired designs, and add their own unique, modern flair.
Stamped with the black-and-white distinguishable label, Herschel has become all the rage in big cities like New York, Los Angeles and Toronto – you can find the brand in stores all over North America from big names, like Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, The Apple Store and The Bay, to smaller boutiques and skate shops.

Started by brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack in Vancouver, Canada in 2009, Herschel was created to highlight a ‘timeless product with fine regard for detail’ – and those who know Herschel goods know that the products are not only functional but also brilliantly made. In an effort to tie the brand to their Canadian family history, the Cormack brothers named their soon-to-be successful accessories brand after a small town in Canada that their family settled in for three generations after immigrating from Scotland in the early 1900s. They came up with the concept for a brand that would provide ‘the everyday traveler with the perfect bags and accessories’ — and that they did.

The Herschel Supply’s Classic Collection, which plays host to their original and most successful designs that focus on daily travel, gained worldwide recognition. Herschel expanded to include a Kids Collection, the Bad Hills Workshop, an experimental line, and the Studio Collection, which highlights creative expression and imagination, drawing inspiration from all areas of the world to put out a unique product for those on the hunt for something different.

From concept to international brand, Herschel has grown immensely in just a few years: in the first year, Herschel sold 8,000 backpacks, and today, the brand now sells millions of accessories across 70+ countries, including a list of other items like bags, wallets and hats. Despite their Canadian roots, Herschel has adapted to its range of consumers, offering a list of unique colours, patterns and materials, all with certain classic touches to maintain that old-school look – and never without their distinguishable logo. The brand has still managed to stay family owned, and by taking inspiration from other international brands that make functional goods like Adidas and Nike, Herschel has become a front-runner in not only the area of accessories but also as an icon in the world of fashion.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
