Flax&Kale

At Flax&Kale they feel passionate about feeding their guests so that they can be happier, live longer and enjoy an optimal illness-free lifestyle – just what good food should do for us. About 80% of their dishes are plant-based and the remaining part contain oily fish. Flax&Kale is part of a group of vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona run by the Catalonian chef Teresa Carles Borrás. This innovative restaurant starts in the morning serving breakfast and ends its night with dinner.

Behind The Bar

Situated in the theatrical neighborhood Poble Sec, Bar Seco is committed to providing sustainable and environmentally friendly food. The atmosphere is vibrant, formed by the colorful locals inhabiting the interior and terrace. Their personnel is welcoming and has knowledge of their locally purchased organic meat, seasonal veggies and whole grains. They clearly are proud of the bar’s philosophy. The reasonably priced menu is filled with sandwiches, typical tapas, (vegetarian) burgers and some heavenly cakes to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Copasetic

This place breathes ecological awareness as well as social responsibility. The crafty interior is made of ecological materials and so is their food. With a Greek and a Catalan chef, Copasetic’s focus is on Mediterranean food. Their menu contains a wide variety of freshly made soups, salads, burgers, quinoa and desserts, all bursting with flavor. Their motto? ‘Cocktails & Food,’ because they feel organic living should not mean restraining from your favorite gin & tonic or piña colada . And if that was not enough, they also support the concept of suspended coffees – you can contribute a small amount, so they can give someone in need a cup of coffee or even a sandwich.

Chivuo’s

Pulled Pork

At Chivulo’s, two Venezuelan chefs combine street food and craft beer the way they should be combined – with loads of passion and honest products. Their pulled pork bocadillos are incredibly tasty, because they slow cook the meat, roasting it at a low temperature for over 12 hours. Add to this the variety of craft beers and there you have it; delicious street food with a beautiful philosophy – the perfect comfort food. Chivuo’s houses its kitchens in two neighborhoods, El Raval and Gràcia. They use ingredients carefully selected from organic farms in the Catalonia region.

Messie Sin Gluten

Messie Sin Gluten is the gluten-free little sister of the well-established Messie Pizza. The owner, Eric Luthringer, created a safe haven for gluten-free food lovers. Located in the food-conscious neighborhood Gràcia, this restaurant offers pasta, salads and pizza of course. They also have 20 gluten-free beers. This is the perfect restaurant for people suffering from food intolerances and allergies. Their staff are trained to be attentive to all dietary requirements.
