L’Eixample is one of the most popular districts in Barcelona. Located in the most centric part of the city, this beautiful neighborhood is where you can fully admire the modernist architecture that characterizes Barcelona, as well as enjoy the lively atmosphere of the city while avoiding the crowds! But L’Eixample isn’t just the right area to enjoy long walks and good cafés, it is also the perfect place to enjoy art since the district is known for its multiple and diverse art galleries.

1. El Quatre

Art Gallery

The art gallery El Quatre opened its doors in 1986, and it has been spreading its talent and love for art ever since. Rosa Ferrer and Xabier Fernández, both gallerists, select every piece of art carefully, always looking for the most professional artists and the best quality pieces. To celebrate these 30 years of good work and good art, El Quatre has prepared 30 different exhibitions of 30 of its artists during 2016 — an ambitious project that offers a great variety of art pieces to the public. If you’re in the city and you’re an art lover, you can’t miss this unique opportunity!

2. Galeria Toni Tàpies

Art Gallery, Museum

The foundation of Antoni Tàpies is one of the most well-known modernist buildings in the city, but it isn’t really an art gallery but rather a museum and a cultural center. However, the gallery Toni Tàpies is dedicated to the same artist, the beloved Catalan painter and sculptor Antoni Tàpies, and it focuses on the commercial management of the artistic heritage of the painter. The gallery Toni Tàpies is the perfect place to get a taste of some of the most important art pieces of one of the most important artists in the country.

3. ADN Gallery

ADN Gallery

There are various goals involved in the ADN project, one of them focusing on the connection between art and society. With a very long list of important and diverse invited artists and collaborators, ADN is one of the most popular art projects in the city and is always offering different and new exhibitions to the public, especially to all the modernist lovers. Despite the fact that the ADN foundation is not located in the center of the city, you can have a taste of their proposals thanks to the gallery, located only ten minutes away from the emblematic street of Passeig de Gràcia.

5. J. BAGOT Arqueología

Art Gallery

This is another innovative proposal since J. BAGOT is slightly different than the rest of the art galleries on the list. This art gallery specializes in ancient art and archaeology, so if you’re passionate about classical antiquities or interested in learning more about them, this is the place for you! Enjoy some of the most historically valuable works in the gallery, pieces that go from Greek and Roman culture to ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Don’t forget to take a look at the exhibitions that they offer or the ancient art fairs that J. BAGOT participates in every year.

Art Petritxol

The art gallery Petritxol opened its doors 25 years ago when two families decided to start a journey through some of the most important art pieces. This small and beloved art gallery has been offering a great variety of exhibitions to its clients ever since, and among all the services that the gallery offers, you can find a group of professionals that work on advisory, valuation and assessment of artworks as well as a long list of artists that collaborate with Art Petritxol.
