Mr. K. Shankar Pillai was a famous cartoonist travelling the world. One day, when he was heading back to India, he was gifted a beautiful doll by a Hungarian diplomat. The doll ignited something inside of him and from that moment on, he preserved every doll he was gifted or brought from different parts of the world; he was mesmerized by the various materials used, costumes and the expressions that varied so vividly from one another. So captivated was he by their loveliness that he soon started exhibiting his collection for children; today the Shankar’s International Doll Museum holds a staggering 6500 dolls, from Pillai’s original collection and contributions from all over the world.

The National Rail Museum is the rail heritage museum of India, which was first opened to the public on the 1st of February, 1977.
